- Ladybower & Derwent Reservoirs:
The Dambusters used the Derwent dam to practice prior
to raids on German dams during World War 11. The reservoir provides beautiful walks or you can hire bikes to which you can
attach a baby/toddler carriage.
- Ringinglow:
Ringinglow is very picturesque and a moderately easy walk
takes you down through the valley to Foxhouses Pub. Kite and model aircraft flying here are popular pastimes.
- Stannage
Edge:
An easy walk
takes you to a rock formation Robin Hood's Seat which gives magnificent views over the Valley or there are challenging rock
climbs on the Edge itself.
- The
Strines Inn:
at Strines
Moor, a really old building circa 1400; has wonderful views over the surrounding countryside, provides a good menu and has
a small farm zoo and playground for the children.
- Hathersage:
A bustling, attractive little town with gift shops, teashops
and restaurants and some pubs. Little John's grave is reputed to be in the local churchyard. Charlotte Bronte stayed at the
Vicarage and many places in "Jane Eyre" bear close resemblance to Hathersage buildings. There is an outdoor swimming pool.
